EBAY ATROCITIES

(Updated June 15, 2005)

eBay claims they care about animals and their customers, but their rules are just words and not enforced.

Ebay violates their own Terms Of Service (TOS) agreement.

This site was created by Protect R Wildlife in 2005 as part of the campaign to convince eBay (and subsequently other on-line auctions) to stop allowing their auctioneers to sell illegal and offensive items, and change their program, or hire someone to monitor these items, BEFORE they go to auction!!

We have been trying to get a response for a year.  Once we did, we didn't get the answer we wanted - just passed around yet again and again.

A new report will soon be released outlining the progress we are making investigating eBay and other such auctions.  Not only will we be continuing to complain about each item, but will be reporting the buyer, seller and eBay for each illegal auction and sale.

Pressure is still needed on eBay to live up to their commitments and make the necessary changes to stop these illicit activities.  Merely having the suggestions and contacts for buyers and sellers to read on their TOS agreement under Prohibited Sale Items is not enough.  Since there is NO ONE to monitor whether these people have the necessary permits or not, they are an accomplice in these acts.

The new report is scheduled to be released by June 1, 2005.  Check back to this site for a link to the report and new photos of illegal items showing up on eBay's auction site.

As the frenzied search for the earth's remaining natural resources by corporations continues, issues of environmental sustainability and human rights take a backseat to corporations' drive for profit.  eBay is the largest on-line auction.

This poor opossum was listed for auction on eBay.  The seller openly admitted in his listing that he killed it.  When sent a letter of protest, his attitude was nothing short of cruel and heartless.  To see his response, see our correspondence page.

DISCLAIMER

Many of the links on this site are taken from eBay.com.  We have no association with eBay, and we don't make a cent from eBay for doing THEIR work!  We don't dislike their auction in general, but we don't like their disregard for animals, their customers' wishes, that they so blatantly ignore their own TOS agreement, and that they don't adequately show their appreciation to people like us.  We are reporting their offenses to the public, and the agencies that should be patrolling this auction site.

There are many items that could be offensive.  Surf at your own risk, although you have to do this on eBay as well.  This site isn't meant for children, but is meant for all animal lovers who want to stop the killing of innocent animals for their "parts", especially by people who do not possess the proper permits or proof of such.

New items will be added periodically.   Don't forget to email us about these types of offenses or links that seem broken - ProtectRWildlife@aol.com.
